Caldwell The Rock BR Competition Shooting Rest

21 in stock

The Caldwell The Rock BR Competition Shooting Rest is basically Caldwell’s proper benchrest-level setup for shooters who want maximum precision and repeatability without going full custom competition gear. It uses a heavy cast-iron base (around 13 lb) with stainless steel adjustable feet so you can level it properly on any bench, and a ball-bearing-supported cradle system that gives very smooth, controlled movement when making fine adjustments. The rest includes both a filled medium varmint bag and an unfilled 3-lobe bag, so you can swap support styles depending on whether you’re using narrow sporter barrels or wider fore-ends. It also has fingertip windage and fine elevation adjustment (up to ~11.5"), which lets you make very precise corrections without disturbing the rifle position. It’s designed specifically for accuracy-focused bench shooting and competition-style grouping work rather than portability or casual use.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION(S)

1. What is this shooting rest used for?
It’s used for precision bench shooting, including zeroing rifles, testing ammunition, and tightening group consistency.

2. Is it a full front rest or full system?
It’s a front rest system, but it includes interchangeable bags that let it adapt to different rifle fore-end styles.

3. How stable is it?
Very stable due to its cast-iron base and weighted design, which helps reduce movement during firing.

4. Does it allow fine adjustments?
Yes, it has fingertip windage control and smooth elevation adjustment for precise aiming corrections.

5. What’s included in the box?
It includes a filled medium varmint bag and an unfilled 3-lobe bag for wider fore-ends.

6. Can it handle different rifle types?
Yes, it’s designed to work with both sporter-style rifles and wider benchrest/varmint setups using the interchangeable bags.

7. Is it good for competition shooting?
Yes, it’s specifically designed with benchrest competition-level features in mind.

8. Does it damage the rifle?
No, the contact surfaces are designed to be non-marring and protect firearm finishes.

9. Is it portable?
Not really—it’s heavy and built for stable bench use rather than transport.

10. What’s the main downside?
It’s bulky and less convenient than lightweight or bag-only systems, so it’s best suited for dedicated bench shooting setups.
